The Friends run a library for the patients and staff of the hospital. It is situated on the Lower Ground Floor at the front of the hospital. There are about 7,000 books varying in subject matter from general fiction through history, biography, and cinemas to art, travel, fantasy and science fiction.
All hospital staff are most welcome.

Ward book trolley rounds
Volunteers take the book trolley to the wards on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.
The trolley has books on a variety of topics and we try to fulfil the reading needs of patients, which can stretch from Dostoevsky to Danielle Steele and from boxing to baking.
Also available are reading glasses, magazines and tape machines with talking books - all for the use of patients.
Book Sales Friday mornings 10a.m. - 1p.m.
Book sales take place in the hospital on the ground floor, near the escalators, on most Fridays. The books are donated from many different sources including former patients, friendly publishers and generous local residents. The books are sold very cheaply and the money goes to the Friends to fund various projects.
Please see the list of traders dates to check if there will be a book sale on a particular date
