Grants Awarded in 2007 and 2008
During 2007 £156,283 was awarded in grants and in 2008 £95,406 was awarded. The Friends gave these grants to support the work of the hospital and to help improve the patients' experience.
Some examples of the grants awarded:
Adult A&E: £7,400
Bloomberg Day Centre: £1,200 for outings for day patients
Burns Unit: £2,600
Christmas Cheer: £700 each year for wards with in-patients during the Christmas holiday.
Equipment Library: £17,470 for equipment to be loaned to wards in emergencies or when servicing or repairs are done.
Gastroenterology: £76,000 A special concert held in 2007 raised over £55,000 towards the cost of a linear ultrasound endoscope.
Intensive Care: £2,940
Mental Health Centre: £37,940 for refurbishment of the gardens and provision of equipment for the new gym for the benefit of both in and out patients. This amount was raised specially at the Clay Pigeon Shoot held in 2008.
Physiotherapy: £9,977
Radiology: £11,100
Respiratory Medicine: £6,480
SMART: £6,000 (2007) and £3,500 (2008) for outings and a holiday for day patients
