Services
The Friends works closely with the hospital to supplement and enhance the services provided to patients by the hospital and its own volunteer department.
Trolley services
Each weekday The Friends provides trolley services to the patients on the wards offering daily essentials, newspapers, and confectionery. A book trolley and a craft trolley go round the wards regularly. Importantly, the smiling and friendly volunteers who push these trolleys are always happy to stop and chat to patients.
The Friends Shop
The shop is on the Ground Floor, at the bottom of the escalator. It supplies newspapers, magazines, confectionery, soft drinks, toiletries, balloons, gifts, cards etc. It is open every weekday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The Library
The Friends Library on the Lower Ground Floor has a large stock of fiction and non-fiction books available for staff and patients. The mobile library visits the wards three times a week.
The Friends Hairdresser
The salon is on the second floor of the hospital (Lift Bank D) for patients and staff and also offers hairdressing on the wards for less mobile patients.
